Der erste SPEEDMAN Sieger Mark Buckingham (UK)

02.07.2011

Der SPEEDMAN Sieger von München, Mark Buckingham (UK) zum Rennen am vergangenen Samstag im Olympiastadion. Before the race I practice my transition leading up to the race because I knew for such a short race distance the transition would be very important to get right. Next year I would learn to speak more German ;);) also I think I would do more short swim and run efforts. I come from a 3000m steeple chase background but it's been a while since I raced such a short distance. During the three runs I felt quite comfortable on in the first race since qualification was quite easy, but I was nervous as i didn't know my other competitors. In the final it was important for me to get out of the swim with the bunch because I was confident with my running providing went in to T2 with the bunch. I love the Speedman concept, it's great that spectators can see the whole race which doesn't normally happen in Triathlon. Getting to race in a venue like the Olympic Stadium Munich was awesome, I know I wouldn't get the opportunity to do this without Speedman. I was super happy to be the first Speedman winner, this was also my first win in triathlon, so it will be a memory that stay with me forever.  The next weeks Im going altitude training with the Brownlee's for a month, so I want to learn as much as possible from them, come back stronger, and get some ITU points at Geneva and other ETU cup races. See you next year, Mark.
